Scott Ellis has run the streets of New Orleans, and especially the Quarter
since 1982. He lived in the Quarter in the mid 1980s. After many
years of reading about the Quarter, he realized that there was
no history of the Quarter in the 20th and now early 21st centuries.
In 2003 he began this work, interviewing old and new friends,
the famous and the unsung. Haunting the archives and finding gems
there and online, a tapestry was ready to be woven. Like the Vieux
Carré itself, the tapestry of her history has some ragged threads,
some glitter, some nylon, and some neon.
